Urge For Change

There is always that point in our lives when we desire to see a change, when we want new things to spring up or when we desire to put away an old habit. Jabez did the same in the bible when he got tired of the life he was living:

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. - (1Chronicles 4:10)

Situations like this are integral part of what makes us human, what brings about inventions and the new technologies we see around us.

Your desire for change is important but at this very moment, you need to be careful of the next step you take in making those changes. Here are few tips that could guide you in bringing about the new reality.

1. Why do I need a change: Your "why" is your drive and it is important for you to know the major reason for the change you desire, are you taking the change to be like others, is it for your comfort or others, are you being forced to make the change. Most times we do things due to peer pressure from friends or family, you need to know that this is about you. Don't go ahead with the battle for a change if you don't have any cogent reason to do so.

2. Is this the right time for the change: Another big question to ask is this. Can you handle this change at this time, don't be like a teenager without a job that decides to get married, you may really need that gadget, loan, car, lifestyle, but can you handle it at the moment. Look closely at your schedule and see if the new change can fit in before you go ahead.

3. Do I have what it takes: This is the most important aspect of it all, this is where most people get stucked. Everyone needs a change but not everyone has what it takes. What can you give or how far can you go to get that change. You need to know your limitations. However, I need to tell you that most changes demand more than the energy you are putting in presently, it requires extra energy and you must be ready to give it.

4. Who or what do I need: If it was possible for everyone to live without the help of others, everyone would have an island by now. You may need a mentor, a skill or a gadget for that new change, don't hesitate, go after it! The journey would definitely be easier with one, go for it.

5. What will be the effect of the new change: The aftermath of the change could also be your drive, this is important. Jabez knew he could live better than the way he was living, he knew that not everyone around him went through the pain he's going through. Knowing the reward or the impact of the change you desire can make you achieve it faster by giving all it takes. It is what gives you perseverance and comfort when you go through the process of that change.

Conclusively, God has assured us that he would never leave us alone, He has giving us permission to demand for help whenever we need it, His Grace is always there to carry us through whenever we need it.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. - Matthew 7:7
